Relevant skills/experience/technologies: Italtel is an acknowledged leader in NGN solutions, particularly in the area of the softswitch technology. The company’s core business today is the design, development and installation of new-generation integrated multi-service networks (voice/data/video), enabling management of voice traffic over the Internet (VoIP, Voice over IP).
Italtel recently presented a new Service Enablers Suite that allows mixing of information and data retrieved from different networks for the creation of brand new services. The company approach to Service Layer provides Telco Operators with a powerful environment for fast and efficient delivery of innovative, multimedia, interactive services in a Web 2.0 fashion available to users in any network with any devices.
Italtel has an extensive experience in collaborative projects both on national, on Eureka clusters (ITEA and CELTIC) and on IST frameworks. Within the latter, in FP6 and FP7, Italtel participated in MEDIANET IP, PANLAB SSA, WEIRD IP and PANLAB Infrastructure Implementation IP.
Role in the project: Italtel will contribute in the study of the project issues with reference to the sub-systems of current telecommunication network. It will work on the architecture and entities creation by studying scenarios and use cases for user Identity Management with reference to use of the telecommunication user identity and web services single sign on authentication. Finally it will contribute to prototype development and testing.
Interest in project results: NGS (Next Generation Services) market is the key for the company, Italtel solutions are aimed to Service Providers who are looking for new applications to differentiate their offer and enter into new business models, to promote new and innovative service bundles, both to consumer and business customers. Service customisation, ubiquity, security and interactive multimedia communications, along with broadband connection, will improve the end-customer experience, confidence and revenue generation.
Giovanni Fausto Andreotti graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy). In 1987, he joined Italtel in Research & Development department, where he dealt with the development of innovative hardware and software products and solutions in various roles, gaining a significant experience in DSP processing, multimedia, broadband access networks and terminals, customer premises equipment and signalling protocols in next-generation packet networks. He has also been involved in several national and European research programmes as Italtel’s representative (recently, in FP6-IST/WEIRD and in Celtic/COMESI), being also co-author of international papers. At present, he is member of the group of experts for the review of the project proposals of the CELTIC cluster. Regarding the relevance to Aniketos, his current activities in Italtel include the investigation of system aspects in Next Generation Networks with focus on Application and Services Layer in the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework.
Giacomo Corvisieri has achieved the degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo in 1983. He has been working in Italtel since 1985, always in R&D departments. He has developed a wide experience in Data Base management, Operation & Maintenance with know-how in call handling for telephone exchanges, also working as Project Leader and Release Leader in several national and international deliveries. He currently works in Multimedia Product and Solution Unit as Manager of a Product Development Laboratory for O&M and Data Layer Applications.
